Behind the Scenes… Creating Christmas 2021
It has been an exciting month here at HVDesign headquarters as we received lots of great news, booked markets, and my studio turned into a tiny factory as I started handmaking new Christmas goodies. So much to share, so let’s start with the good news first!
Our little company has been chosen as a finalist for the annual Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards!!
The focus of the awards this year is the resilience of local enterprise - how we have changed in response to the pandemic, helped our local communities, and grown stronger and even more passionate. We are nominated for the “Made in Greenwich” category which celebrates the creative talent alive and thriving in Greenwich Borough. So many thanks to our amazing friends (like you) who have supported us through orders, word of mouth, reviews, and market visits.
This morning I attended a breakfast at Woolwich Town Hall and met with the other nominees and judges. Everyone felt so uplifted by finally being able to meet in person, many of us meeting face to face for the first time.
LONDON CARES
We want to raise funds to give people a card to let them know that Londoners care - we are with them, we want to help them, and they matter.
Lewisham Donation Hub is a voluntary project set up in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. They collect and organise donations of all kinds, which they then share with those facing hardship.
People who come to them for help include:
Local people who are facing financial hardship
Veterans sleeping rough on the streets
Refugees from war-torn countries
People fleeing domestic violence
Anyone in need of support: men, women, children, and babies
Along with the practical help from Lewisham Donation Hub, we want to give people a card to let them know that Londoners care - we are with them, we want to help them, and they matter.
The cards will include a message in lots of different languages, as well as handwritten messages from our generous community who donate to the project.
Heather Victoria Design will give their time and artwork to produce the cards, and we want to raise funds to pay for the printing of the initial 1,000 cards we need (£214), followed by two further print runs once those are used.
